Rudsambee — a cappella in Edinburgh: a choir with a difference

Rudsambee is a choir based in Edinburgh. The name comes from the Gaelic expression rud sam bith idir, meaning "anything at all", which represents our eclectic taste in music. Our director is Derrick Morgan.

We very much regret that our Christmas concerts in Rosslyn Chapel and St Giles' Cathedral both had to be CANCELLED at very short notice because of COVID risks. We apologise to everybody who has been disappointed, and particularly to those who didn’t get our messages in time and made a long wasted journey to Rosslyn. There will, of course, be automatic refunds of the ticket price.

In the present circumstances, we are not scheduling any more concerts, but we hope to be performing again in the coming months.

We had to postpone our ambitious 2020 project: the European premiere of Shadow and Light for choir and chamber orchestra by the American composer Joan Szymko. This is about dementia - so not your usual choral work. Our aim, when we can reschedule this event, will be to increase awareness of the experience of living with dementia, and to raise money for one of Scotland's main charities supporting people with dementia: Alzheimer Scotland.

We'd be delighted (when coronavirus lets us) to sing for your function or event. See our contact page for information.

We would welcome a few new members to join us when we resume our normal schedule. If you're interested, please e-mail.

We enjoy occasional exchange visits. If you think your group may be compatible in size and style, and you'd enjoy a trip to Edinburgh, then please get in touch.
